Job Overview:
The position of Graphic Designer Volunteer at WHO in Chad involves supporting communications activities at the country level. The incumbent will be responsible for the accurate and timely production and dissemination of high-quality public information products that highlight the work of WHO and its partners on the ground. This role is crucial for promoting the achievements and results of key public health initiatives and for building contacts with the press/media and key partners. The volunteer will work closely with colleagues in the country office to ensure that WHO's work and health issues gain visibility among partners, the general public, the media, and other key stakeholders. The role requires a strong creative vision, excellent design skills, and a keen eye for detail to ensure that the documents produced are visually appealing and professional.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Graphic Designer Volunteer will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
  • Creating design drafts of documents based on requirements and discussing them with the technical supervisor.
  • Developing the design according to agreed-upon requirements.
  • Ensuring consistent formatting that adheres to the organization's visual guidelines.
  • Formatting documents (Microsoft Word) with a maximum length of 50 pages.
  • Delivering final formatted documents in an appropriate digital format, along with all editable source files (if created using software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, etc.).
  • Making necessary revisions based on feedback and comments from the team.
  • Providing multiple design variations/options if required.
  • Ensuring that the design and layout comply with the organization's design guidelines, which will be communicated to the volunteers in advance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Graphic Designer Volunteer position should possess strong graphic design skills, creativity, and attention to detail. They should be proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and have a solid understanding of visual communication principles. Additionally, candidates should be able to work collaboratively and effectively communicate with team members and supervisors. A portfolio showcasing previous design work is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field is preferred for this position. Candidates should have completed or be in the process of completing a degree or diploma in graphic design or a similar discipline.
