Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position within the Information Management (IM) team at OHCHR is designed to support the Protection Cluster in the occupied Palestinian territory (OPT). This role is crucial during an intensive reporting and analytical period, where the volunteers will contribute to strengthening protection data systems and enhancing the quality of information products. The volunteers will engage in various tasks that include creating analytical tables, contributing to snapshots or analytical briefs, and improving dataset documentation and structure. The overarching goal is to support evidence-based protection programming and humanitarian planning, ensuring that the needs of vulnerable populations are effectively addressed through accurate and timely information.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Developing analytical tables that support at least one protection product, ensuring that the data is accurate and relevant.
  • Contributing to the creation of at least one Snapshot or analytical brief that summarizes protection risks and responses in the region.
  • Strengthening the documentation and structure of datasets to facilitate better data management and accessibility.
  • Enhancing the Information Management workflow during high-reporting periods to ensure that all protection actors have access to the necessary information for effective decision-making.
  • Collaborating with other team members to ensure that all outputs meet the required quality standards and are delivered on time.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Online Volunteer position should possess strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail. They should be proficient in data management and have experience with information systems. Familiarity with protection issues in humanitarian contexts, particularly in the Palestinian territory, is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, international relations, human rights, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of human rights principles and the ability to apply them in practical contexts. Relevant coursework or training in data analysis or information management will be advantageous.

Experience:
While specific years of experience may not be required for this volunteer position, candidates should ideally have some experience in data analysis, information management, or related fields. Experience working in humanitarian settings or with protection issues will be considered a significant asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reporting and documentation will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, given the context of the work in the Palestinian territory, and would enhance communication with local stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and as such, it may not offer financial compensation. The role is expected to be part-time, with flexible hours to accommodate the volunteers' schedules. The position is open to individuals who can work remotely, allowing for international participation.
