Job Overview:
The Finance Manager will provide strategic financial leadership and oversight for the Zambia Office, ensuring strong financial stewardship, compliance, risk management, and operational efficiency. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial health of the organization and will report directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director while also having a dotted-line reporting relationship to CHAI’s International Controller. The position is designed to build and manage a high-performing finance team that aligns with CHAI’s mission and values, ensuring that financial practices support the overall goals of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Manager will be responsible for a wide range of duties including providing strategic financial leadership to support long-term sustainability and operational excellence. This includes leading the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasting in collaboration with the Country Director and Program Teams. The Finance Manager will provide analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, cost allocation guidance, and expenditure tracking to inform programmatic decision-making. Monthly and annual financial performance reports will be presented to country leadership, highlighting risks, trends, and recommendations. Additionally, the Finance Manager will develop detailed annual budgets and grant financial plans aligned with donor requirements, ensuring compliance with all financial reporting standards. Treasury and cash management responsibilities include managing cashbooks, bank accounts, receivables, and payables, as well as preparing cash forecasts and fund requests. The Finance Manager will also strengthen internal controls, maintain the Country Finance & Compliance Manual, and ensure audit readiness. Other responsibilities include overseeing payroll, ensuring compliance with Zambian tax laws, and leading the finance team to promote high performance and professional development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is required, and an MBA or advanced degree is considered an added advantage. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial management is essential, preferably within international NGOs or donor-funded environments. Candidates should demonstrate experience in budgeting, grant management, donor financial reporting, and audit coordination, along with a strong knowledge of Zambian financial regulations and statutory compliance requirements. Experience with donors such as Global Fund, bilaterals, Unitaid, or similar is also advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is mandatory, while an MBA or advanced degree is viewed as a beneficial addition to the candidate's qualifications.
