The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a prominent protection agency established to safeguard, advocate for, and promote sustainable solutions for populations affected by displacement. The organization has been operational in Ukraine since 2014, employing over 800 staff members who work across various sectors including Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs, and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding, which encompasses humanitarian mine action. DRC employs a multifaceted approach that includes direct interventions, support to duty bearers, and partnerships with civil society organizations (CSOs). As the context in Ukraine evolves, DRC is committed to adapting its durable solutions portfolio to meet the changing needs of the affected populations.

Job Overview:
The primary purpose of the Driver role is to facilitate and manage passenger transportation within Ukraine, ensuring effective planning and execution of transport and logistics activities that support humanitarian assistance operations, particularly in Kyiv, while also undertaking business trips throughout the country. The driver is entrusted with the responsibility of safely operating and maintaining the vehicle, ensuring that it is in optimal condition for transporting operations teams and field offices. This role is crucial in ensuring that humanitarian efforts are supported through reliable and efficient transportation services, which are vital for the success of DRC's operations in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties that include: conducting daily vehicle driving duties and performing inspections in accordance with the Supply Chain Manual; ensuring that each vehicle is equipped with a Vehicle Log Book, First Aid Kit, and Fire Extinguisher; maintaining cleanliness of the vehicles both inside and out; reporting any accidents, damages, or defects to the Supply Chain Officer and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Specialist, and completing the Accident Report for further action; checking and ensuring that Vehicle Log Books are accurately filled out; submitting Log Books to the Supply Chain Officer at the beginning of each month; ensuring proper parking of vehicles during day and night at the office; inspecting the vehicle post-repair to confirm completion of necessary work; adhering to all traffic laws and regulations applicable in Ukraine and DRC; maintaining possession of a valid driving license and ensuring timely renewal; communicating effectively with Supply Chain Officers and Security Officers; monitoring fuel levels and organizing refueling; sending completed Logbooks to the Supply Chain Officer at the end of each day; and complying with regulated working hours while being flexible to operational needs.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a valid driving license and demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of driving experience. Additionally, candidates should have secondary education or higher. Proficiency in the Ukrainian language is essential, and candidates should have at least an A1 level of English. Basic computer literacy is also required, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education or possess a higher level of education. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary skills and knowledge to perform the duties associated with the Driver position effectively.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 5 years of driving experience. This experience is crucial as it ensures that the candidate is well-versed in safe driving practices, vehicle maintenance, and adherence to traffic regulations, which are vital for the role.

Languages:
Fluency in the Ukrainian language is mandatory for this position, while a basic level of English (A1 or higher) is also required. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position includes a 3-month probation period, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and satisfactory performance. The position is classified as Band J, which is a non-management role. The designated duty station for this position is Mykolaiv. The start date for this application is not immediate, as this is for the candidate pool, and candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Salary and conditions will align with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national contracts.
