Job Overview:
The Psychotherapist will play a crucial role in managing the provision of targeted mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for young refugees and migrants impacted by trauma. This position is part of the IRC's Digital Horizons project, which aims to help youth aged 16-30 access sustainable employment through software development training and support services. The consultant will work closely with the IRC team to ensure that MHPSS services are tailored to the unique needs of migrant and refugee youth, taking into account their traumatic experiences and cultural backgrounds. The role involves delivering individual online counseling sessions, conducting psychological assessments, and developing treatment plans that are survivor-centered and rights-based. The consultant will also collaborate with other team members to integrate mental health services with protection and case management efforts, ensuring a holistic approach to the well-being of participants.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Psychotherapist will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Conduct intake assessments of beneficiaries to understand their mental health needs.
  • Provide individual online psychological support to youth participants, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on psychological assessments.
  • Offer psychosocial orientation and refer clinical cases requiring psychiatric care to appropriate services.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records that comply with data protection and safeguarding standards.
  • Regularly update anonymized narrative and quantitative data related to the mental health services provided.
  • Collaborate with the IRC team, including the Integration counselor and caseworker, to ensure comprehensive support for participants.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of best practices in MHPSS for migrant and refugee populations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • A valid license to practice as a psychotherapist.
  • A minimum of 3 years of proven clinical experience in mental health services.
  • Experience working with gender-based violence (GBV), intersectional gender issues, and the LGBTIQ+ community is required.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and culturally sensitive practices is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ethical judgment and the ability to maintain professional boundaries and safeguarding standards.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a relevant educational background in psychology, social work, or a related field. Advanced degrees such as a Master's or Doctorate in psychology or counseling are preferred, along with specialized training in trauma-informed care and mental health support for vulnerable populations.

Experience:
The position requires at least 3 years of clinical experience, particularly in working with youth, migrants, and refugees in humanitarian contexts. Experience with GBV and intersectional identities is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the unique challenges faced by young refugees and migrants in integrating into host communities.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of additional languages such as Arabic, Spanish, French, Ukrainian, Urdu, Pashtu, and Farsi is considered an asset. This multilingual capability will enhance communication with diverse beneficiaries and improve the effectiveness of the support provided.
