Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer for Editing and Document Improvement at WHO Chad involves supporting communications activities at the country level. The incumbent will be responsible for the accurate and timely production and dissemination of high-quality public information products that highlight the work of WHO and its partners on the ground. This role is crucial in promoting the achievements and results of key public health initiatives and building relationships with the press/media and key partners. The volunteer will work closely with colleagues in the country office to ensure that WHO's work and health issues gain visibility among partners, the general public, the media, and other key stakeholders. The role is essential for enhancing the quality, credibility, coherence, and impact of documents produced by the organization, thereby supporting national public health efforts and increasing the visibility of the office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will be responsible for the complete editing of institutional and strategic documents under the general direction of the WHO Representative and the technical supervision of the External Relations and Partnerships Officer. Specific duties include: proofreading and correcting documents to ensure impeccable linguistic quality (spelling, grammar, syntax, punctuation); revising and editing documents provided in Microsoft Word format; handling documents with a maximum length of 50 pages per support; reviewing the structural and logical coherence of texts, including organization, articulation of ideas, and fluidity; improving the formulation, tone, and clarity to ensure a consistent institutional style in line with WHO standards; ensuring terminological harmonization, including acronyms, definitions, and technical vocabulary; revising strategic documents such as concept notes, project proposals, reports, speeches, official correspondence, and advocacy documents; producing edited versions ready for validation or dissemination; integrating feedback from the supervisor and proposing advanced editorial improvements. Editorial guidelines and templates will be provided in advance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong editing and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality in written communication. Familiarity with WHO's institutional style and terminology is preferred. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment is essential, as well as effective communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders. Candidates should also demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn and adapt to the organization's needs.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, public health, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a strong command of the language in which they will be editing documents, as well as familiarity with the technical vocabulary relevant to public health and WHO's work.

Experience:
While prior experience in editing and document improvement is highly desirable, it is not mandatory. However, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the editing process and the ability to produce high-quality written materials. Experience in a similar role within a public health or international organization would be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as the majority of the documents will be in French. Proficiency in English is a plus and would be considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.
