Job Overview: The National Policy Expert position is crucial for integrating climate adaptation strategies into Bangladesh's agricultural sector as part of the Delta Plan 2100 initiative. Duties and Responsibilities: The National Policy Expert will have a wide range of responsibilities, including: organizing stakeholder consultation workshops to establish a shared understanding of project objectives; studying the impacts of climate change on agriculture in Bangladesh, including issues such as floods, droughts, and salinity; collecting and analyzing agricultural and climate data relevant to the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100; conducting scenario analyses based on various agro-climatic conditions; reviewing and analyzing climate-related policies and proposing strategies for strengthening them; aligning national agricultural policies with the Delta Plan to ensure long-term food security; identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring agricultural projects; developing tools for data collection and analysis; and performing other relevant duties as assigned by the FAO Representative.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree or equivalent in Development Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Sciences, or a closely related field. Additionally, a minimum of 10 years of experience in policy analysis related to food security and agriculture is required. Candidates should also have a working knowledge of English at level C and must be nationals of Bangladesh. The role demands strong analytical skills, particularly in the context of climate change impacts on agriculture, and the ability to align agricultural strategies with national policies.
