Job Overview: The Programme Associate (Public Information & Executive Office Support) position at UNESCO is designed to provide essential technical and operational support in the areas of digital communication, public information, and executive office coordination. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the UNESCO Representative in Pakistan, contributing to the enhancement of the Office’s visibility and public image. This role involves preparing, disseminating, and monitoring communication outputs that align with UNESCO’s corporate communication standards and donor visibility requirements. The Programme Associate will also facilitate workflow management within the Director’s Office, ensuring effective correspondence tracking, documentation control, and coordination processes. The position requires a high level of discretion, organizational skills, and sound judgment, particularly when handling sensitive matters in accordance with UNESCO’s policies and procedures applicable to Service Contract personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Associate include, but are not limited to: assisting in the maintenance and updating of UNESCO's digital platforms, including the website and social media channels, ensuring compliance with branding guidelines and donor visibility requirements; drafting, editing, and publishing communication materials in English, including graphics, videos, and multimedia content; maintaining editorial calendars and monitoring digital engagement; coordinating with programme teams to collect content and visuals for dissemination; providing administrative support to the Director’s Office, including calendar management, correspondence handling, and meeting organization; organizing workshops, missions, and official visits; preparing briefing materials; maintaining documentation and archives; tracking and coordinating administrative and logistical arrangements; and performing any other duties as assigned by the Head of Mission and the Programme Team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, digital media, business administration, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in communication, digital media, administration, or executive/management support is required, preferably within the UN system or an international organization. Strong drafting, editorial, and content production skills in English are essential, along with proficiency in digital communication tools and content management systems.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as communication, journalism, public relations, digital media, or business administration. An advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in one of these fields is considered a desirable qualification, along with specialized training or certification in digital communication, social media management, branding, or multimedia production.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in communication, digital media, administration, or executive/management support. Candidates with experience working within the UN system or other international/multilateral organizations are preferred. Additionally, experience supporting senior management or executive offices, as well as experience in donor-funded project communication and visibility compliance, is highly valued.
Languages: Candidates must have excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English and Urdu. Good knowledge of other local languages is considered a desirable qualification, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
