Job Overview: The Associate Project Officer position is situated within the UNESCO Education Sector, specifically in the Division for Education 2030, focusing on the Section of Education for Inclusion and Gender Equality. This role is pivotal in supporting the implementation of two significant Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX) grants aimed at promoting gender equality and inclusion in education. The incumbent will work under the guidance of senior officials and will be responsible for coordinating various aspects of project management, including planning, monitoring, and reporting. The position requires a proactive approach to ensure that project objectives are met efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overarching goals of UNESCO in promoting inclusive quality education and gender equality.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Project Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities that include:
Supporting the timely implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the two GPE KIX projects focused on gender equality in education.
Developing, updating, and tracking work plans in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure project milestones are achieved.
Monitoring and managing project budgets at the Headquarters level, working closely with Field Offices to ensure financial accountability.
Contributing to the development and oversight of monitoring and evaluation plans to assess project impact and effectiveness.
Preparing narrative and financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including University College London and other donors.
Drafting reports, briefs, and other necessary documentation to communicate project progress and outcomes.
Liaising with consortium partners and UNESCO field offices to facilitate collaboration and organization of consortium meetings, including minute-taking.
Assisting in the development of project communication plans and visibility elements to enhance project outreach.
Organizing dissemination and knowledge-sharing events to ensure that project results inform other relevant activities within the Section. 1
Providing additional support on education for gender equality and inclusion as required by senior staff.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in Education, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or related fields. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of gender equality and inclusion in education, as well as to engage effectively with various stakeholders in the field.
