Job Overview: The Donor Relations and Fundraising Specialist position at CIMMYT is a dynamic and results-oriented role within the Resource Mobilization Team of the Donor and Fundraising Support Unit (DFS). The primary responsibility of this role is to drive fundraising efforts from Spanish-speaking donors and those interested in supporting CIMMYT's work in Latin America. The position is based in Texcoco, Mexico, and reports directly to the Resource Mobilization Manager. The specialist will partner with CIMMYT Program Directors, Program Managers, and senior scientists to co-lead fundraising strategies and develop opportunities that contribute to successful fundraising outcomes. This role is crucial in ensuring that CIMMYT can continue its vital work in agricultural science and support for farmers in the Global South.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Donor Relations and Fundraising Specialist include: partnering with designated CIMMYT Program Directors and Managers to co-lead fundraising strategies; coordinating fundraising efforts with Latin America Programs; participating in regular fundraising meetings; advising on best practices; providing editorial and strategic input to funding proposals; developing and implementing donor engagement plans; designing and monitoring annual fundraising plans; contributing to the development of fundraising services and tools; identifying and cultivating new donor relationships; actively contributing to DFS annual planning activities; collaborating with various colleagues to ensure coordinated donor engagement; preparing materials for Resource Mobilization Management Committee meetings; working with Communications to develop donor-facing products; delivering stewardship to current and lapsed donors; maintaining accurate records within DFS data systems; and performing related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include documented experience in donor intelligence and fundraising, with a demonstrated capacity for both supporting and leading successful fundraising opportunities. Candidates should have experience in project management and a multi-project work environment for over five years, including some experience in an international context. The ability to build strong relationships with CIMMYT counterparts at all levels is essential, as is a resourceful and proactive approach to work. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills in both Spanish and English, and a desire to work collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural environment.
Educational Background: Candidates for the Donor Relations and Fundraising Specialist position should possess a relevant educational background that supports their ability to perform the duties of the role effectively.
