Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
Camara is an organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for underserved communities by providing access to inclusive, technology-enabled education solutions. The organization focuses on digital learning initiatives that equip students and teachers with tools to enhance subject learning, digital literacy, and equitable access to quality education. Camara has developed innovative tools such as the Camara AI Assistant, which is an offline, curriculum-aligned digital learning tool designed to support classroom instruction, exam preparation, and independent learning. The organization aims to strengthen evidence-based decision-making and accountability to education partners through the design of a Digital Learning Analytics and Impact Reporting Dashboard that transforms system-generated learning data into actionable insights. Camara operates in various countries, deploying offline digital learning systems in schools through smart classrooms and digital learning hubs, and is committed to enhancing educational experiences in low-connectivity environments.

Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteers at Camara Education Ethiopia involves collaborating on the conceptual design and documentation of a Digital Learning Analytics and Impact Reporting Dashboard. This role is crucial in defining a structured, privacy-conscious reporting framework that aggregates and interprets learning engagement data generated by Camara’s digital learning tools. The volunteers will work under the supervision of the Digital Learning & AI Lead and will be responsible for creating a high-level analytics and reporting framework that consolidates school-level digital learning data into a centralized dashboard. The assignment is fully remote and aligns with UNV Online Volunteering criteria, allowing volunteers to contribute from anywhere while collaborating virtually through email, shared documents, and periodic coordination calls. The work is task-based and time-bound, focusing on delivering outputs that will inform future technical implementations and enhance Camara's digital education interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will undertake several key tasks, including:
  • Designing a high-level analytics and reporting framework for consolidating school-level digital learning data into a centralized dashboard.
  • Defining learning-relevant data elements and indicators that support monitoring of access, engagement, and adoption trends.
  • Proposing standardized metrics for AI-supported learning usage, such as frequency of use, session patterns, and subject coverage.
  • Developing conceptual data flow diagrams that illustrate how data moves from school environments to reporting and visualization layers.
  • Recommending approaches for aggregating and visualizing data in a manner that is privacy-compliant and suitable for education reporting.
  • Suggesting offline-first and low-connectivity-appropriate design considerations to support deployment in resource-constrained school settings.
  • Creating a high-level implementation roadmap outlining phased development considerations.
  • Producing clear documentation that outlines the proposed framework, assumptions, and reporting use cases for internal and external stakeholders. The tasks will be distributed between the two Online Volunteers based on their expertise, ensuring coherent and integrated outputs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess complementary skills in learning analytics, data modeling, digital reporting, and education-focused monitoring and evaluation. They should have a strong understanding of digital learning environments and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting. Familiarity with privacy considerations in data reporting and experience in educational contexts will be advantageous. Volunteers should also be able to communicate effectively and provide clear documentation of their work.

Educational Background:
A background in education, data science, analytics, or a related field is preferred for this position. Candidates should have relevant academic qualifications that demonstrate their understanding of digital learning tools and educational data analysis. Advanced degrees or certifications in these areas may be beneficial but are not strictly required.

Experience:
The position requires volunteers to have prior experience in learning analytics, data modeling, or digital reporting, particularly within educational settings. Experience working with digital learning tools and understanding the challenges of low-connectivity environments will be highly valued. Candidates should be comfortable with remote collaboration and have a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within scope.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all communication and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions where Camara operates, would be considered a plus but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a fully remote position, allowing volunteers to work from any location. The assignment is task-based and time-bound, aligning with the UNV Online Volunteering criteria. Volunteers will receive regular guidance and feedback from the supervising team, and the outputs produced will be advisory and design-focused, structured as implementation-ready handover materials for future development phases.
