Job Overview: The Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Team Leader is responsible for leading, managing, and ensuring the effective implementation of EORE activities within a designated operational area. This role involves direct supervision of the EORE team, overseeing field data collection and validation, maintaining community liaison, and ensuring compliance with national and international standards, including IMAS and DRC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Team Leader is expected to develop work plans, manage team logistics, and ensure adherence to safety protocols while fostering a supportive and productive team environment. The position requires a proactive approach to community engagement and the ability to adapt EORE messages to be culturally sensitive and context-specific. The Team Leader will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the impact of EORE activities, ensuring that all team outputs meet quality standards and contribute to the overall mission of DRC in Syria.
Duties and Responsibilities: The EORE Team Leader's responsibilities include leading and mentoring the EORE team, developing weekly and monthly work plans, conducting regular team meetings, and managing logistics related to team movements and equipment. The Team Leader must ensure that all team members adhere to DRC SOPs and identify training needs to facilitate capacity building. Additionally, the Team Leader is responsible for monitoring team performance, conducting performance reviews, and managing attendance and leave applications. In terms of technical implementation, the Team Leader will plan and coordinate EORE activities, ensuring that sessions are tailored to at-risk groups and that quality control checks are conducted on team outputs. The Team Leader will compile and submit accurate reports on EORE activities, maintain meticulous records, and serve as the primary liaison with local authorities and community leaders. The role also involves representing DRC in community meetings and coordinating with other mine action actors to ensure operational synergy.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the EORE Team Leader position should possess a background in humanitarian mine action, with specific expertise in EORE. Previous experience as a team leader in humanitarian settings is essential, along with a proven track record in EORE activities. Strong communication and report writing skills are required, as well as proficiency in MS Windows, Word, and Excel. The ideal candidate should demonstrate leadership capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for the EORE Team Leader position include higher or secondary education, along with specific certifications such as a team leader course certificate, a basic management course, and an EORE course certificate, which is mandatory for this role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have substantial experience in humanitarian mine action, particularly in EORE. Previous experience as a team leader in similar contexts is highly desirable, as is familiarity with non-technical survey methodologies. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the challenges and dynamics of working in conflict-affected areas.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse community members and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract for the EORE Team Leader position is set to last until 31 December 2026, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
