Job Overview: This volunteer position is part of a collaborative initiative between VSO and YBI (Youth Business International) aimed at supporting youth networks in Pakistan through the VSO ACTIVE Extension Project. The volunteer will serve as a catalyst for strengthening youth networks, enhancing youth leadership, and amplifying the voices of young people through effective communications and advocacy efforts. The role is crucial in fostering meaningful youth participation across Pakistan, ensuring that young individuals are actively engaged in shaping their communities and contributing to local development. The volunteer will be expected to work closely with various stakeholders, including youth organizations, community leaders, and other partners, to promote youth-led initiatives and support the capacity building of civil society organizations focused on youth engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The volunteer will be responsible for a range of duties aimed at enhancing youth networks and leadership in Pakistan. Key responsibilities include:
Facilitating workshops and training sessions to empower youth leaders and enhance their skills in advocacy, communication, and project management.
Collaborating with local youth organizations to identify needs and develop tailored programs that support youth engagement and participation.
Developing and implementing communication strategies to amplify the voices of young people and raise awareness about youth issues in the community.
Supporting the establishment and strengthening of youth networks to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among young leaders.
Monitoring and evaluating the impact of youth programs and initiatives, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
Engaging with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups, to promote youth-led initiatives and advocate for policies that support youth development.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this volunteer role should possess a strong commitment to youth empowerment and development. Required qualifications include:
Proven experience in supporting youth programs, youth-led initiatives, or capacity strengthening within civil society organizations.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and inspire young people.
Experience in advocacy and community engagement, particularly in the context of youth issues.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and build sustainable relationships.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a background in social sciences, community development, education, or a related field. A degree or equivalent qualification in these areas is preferred, although relevant experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with youth programs or initiatives.
