Job Overview:
The Social Media Consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing the IAEA's digital presence by coordinating and implementing the agency's corporate social media strategy. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage various social media platforms, draft engaging messages, and support campaigns that align with the IAEA's strategic priorities. The consultant will work closely with different departments and colleagues to ensure that content is tailored to meet the agency's communication goals. The role involves researching and creating timely content that resonates with the audience, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance metrics to improve social media effectiveness. The consultant will also be responsible for expanding the IAEA's online community and managing live social media events, ensuring that the agency's messaging is clear, compelling, and accessible to a broad audience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement social media campaigns and marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing strategies that align with IAEA communications initiatives.
  • Research, write, edit, and post engaging content on various corporate social media accounts, including Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads, and Facebook.
  • Identify and leverage emerging digital trends and tools to enhance storytelling and audience engagement.
  • Manage the weekly social media calendar, coordinating with communications colleagues to collate, edit, and schedule content.
  • Monitor social media engagement, analyze performance metrics, and provide actionable insights to improve content quality and performance.
  • Serve as the focal point for social media matters, monitoring trends, responding to queries, and advising departmental social media focal points on content strategy and metrics.
  • Develop and expand the IAEA's online community through influencer outreach and strategies to increase positive interactions.
  • Collaborate with the graphic design team to optimize visual content for digital channels, providing input on visuals, infographics, and motion graphics.
  • Manage live social media events and livestreamed conferences on IAEA channels, ensuring effective communication and audience engagement.

Required Qualifications:
  • University degree (bachelor) in social media, marketing, journalism, public relations, international relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in social media and/or digital communications, preferably within an international organization.
  • Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and a demonstrated ability to engage audiences creatively.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), social media scheduling tools, and design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
  • Expertise in platform dynamics, audience engagement techniques, and emerging content trends.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English; knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an asset.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social media, marketing, journalism, public relations, international relations, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the complexities of communication in an international context, particularly in relation to nuclear science and technology.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in social media and/or digital communications. This experience should ideally be gained in an international organization, where the candidate has developed a strong understanding of global communication strategies and the nuances of engaging diverse audiences across various platforms.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the IAEA. Knowledge of additional official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with a broader audience.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy offers a daily fee of up to a maximum of €250, commensurate with qualifications and experience. If travel is required as part of the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs will be covered. Health coverage and pension fund contributions are the responsibility of the consultant. This position may involve both full-time and part-time commitments, depending on the needs of the IAEA and the consultant's availability.
