Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer in the Social Policy programme section of UNICEF will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of social policy programming. This position involves providing technical support for strategic planning and the delivery of sustainable results aimed at reducing child poverty and enhancing social protection coverage. The volunteer will work closely with government and civil society partners, contributing to the improvement of public policies and financial management related to child-focused investments. A key aspect of this role is to enhance data collection and analysis on child poverty and vulnerability, ensuring that evidence is effectively used for policy and program action. The volunteer will also facilitate results-based management to prioritize and scale up social policy initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will be responsible for managing databases on key child indicators, ensuring they are current and accurate in collaboration with all Programme Sections. The role includes collecting, analyzing, and presenting data in a user-friendly manner, while also strengthening national capacity for routine data collection and reporting. The volunteer will provide timely data-driven analysis to support effective prioritization and development of social policy initiatives aimed at reducing child poverty. Additionally, the volunteer will offer technical support and quality assurance for key research conducted by UNICEF Mozambique, ensuring clarity in objectives, methods, and dissemination plans. Building and sustaining partnerships with government counterparts and stakeholders is essential for facilitating program implementation and capacity building.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills and experience in data management and analysis. They should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and have a commitment to UNICEF's mission of promoting children's rights. Familiarity with social policy frameworks and child-focused programs is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should also exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be proficient in using data analysis software and tools.

Educational Background:
A degree in social sciences, public policy, statistics, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in child development, social policy, or data analysis will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the principles of equity and child rights as outlined by UNICEF.

Experience:
The position requires prior experience in social policy analysis, data management, or program evaluation, preferably within a governmental or non-governmental organization. Experience working in a multicultural environment and familiarity with the socio-economic context of Mozambique will be advantageous. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully managing projects and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Portuguese is highly desirable. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Mozambique would be an added advantage, as it would facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position is based in Maputo, Mozambique, and national UN Volunteers are part of a malicious insurance plan. Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to local customs and traditions are essential for this role.
