Job Overview:
The Digital Fundraising Program Expert will play a crucial role in expanding UNHCR's digital fundraising acquisition program in Malaysia. This position requires a highly motivated individual with a proven track record in digital fundraising, direct marketing, and digital marketing, preferably acquired in the commercial sector. The expert will assist in planning and implementing online fundraising campaigns, which include search and display advertising, crowdfunding, and social media marketing. The role also involves reviewing and adapting web content to enhance donor engagement and optimize donation performance. The expert will analyze user journeys and social media insights to improve engagement and conversion rates, ensuring that the fundraising objectives are met. This position is vital for increasing awareness and support for UNHCR's programs, ultimately benefiting the 180,000 refugees and other persons of concern in Malaysia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Digital Fundraising Program Expert will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of online fundraising campaigns, including search and display ads, crowdfunding, and social media marketing.
  • Supporting omnichannel fundraising efforts, such as Direct Response TV fundraising and face-to-face fundraising.
  • Reviewing and digitizing web content to enhance email, website, and social media interactions aimed at potential donors.
  • Analyzing user journeys and social media insights to optimize engagement and conversion performance.
  • Coordinating digital assets between UNHCR offices and external agencies to ensure effective campaign execution.
  • Determining promotional tactics to increase web traffic and engagement.
  • Assisting in the procurement process and related administrative tasks.
  • Supporting the Digital Fundraising Coordinator in social media monitoring and community management.
  • Assisting in digital content creation and management, including scheduling and reporting. 1
  • Performing any other responsibilities as delegated by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a diverse workload and meet tight deadlines. They should be capable of engaging with external vendors and coordinating multiple stakeholders effectively. The role requires independence and the ability to work without direct supervision. Proficiency in computerized accounts packages, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is essential. Candidates should be well-articulated and comfortable communicating with individuals from various cultural and educational backgrounds. Experience in running digital performance campaigns through search, social, and display channels is desired, along with knowledge of mobile marketing, social media marketing, content management, and digital analytics. Familiarity with refugee issues and the NGO sector is an asset.

Educational Background:
The position requires completion of Secondary Education, with a preference for candidates holding a University degree in Communication, Sales and Marketing, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of digital marketing and fundraising.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of work experience with a High School Diploma or 1 year with a Bachelor's degree or higher in digital marketing or fundraising. Experience in developing and executing fundraising digital tactics or direct sales at a national level is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other UN languages, such as Mandarin, is considered an asset, while Cantonese is also desired. Proficiency in these languages will enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and potential donors.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered under a UNOPS Local ICA contract until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension. It is important to note that the position requires fluency in English and Malay languages.
