Job Overview:
The Strategic Information Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the UNFPA Supplies Partnership, which is the largest thematic trust fund of UNFPA. This position is integral to the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Branch (SRHRB) within the Programme Division (PD) in Nairobi, Kenya. The incumbent will focus on providing data analytics support to enhance the quality and use of reproductive health data across the UNFPA Supplies Partnership and the Family Planning Programme. The role involves generating high-quality data, contributing to reporting and management of multi-stakeholder Gates Foundation Grants, and providing technical support to leadership and regional offices. The position aims to improve decision-making processes through data-driven insights and to ensure that the organization meets its strategic goals related to family planning and maternal health.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Strategic Information Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: conducting in-depth data analysis related to programme Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Gates Foundation Grants; leading efforts to analyze and model data for optimizing resource allocations; creating data visualizations and reports to support decision-making; maintaining alignment between the UNFPA Supplies Programme Results Framework and technical needs; implementing data quality assurance processes; providing technical support to regional and country offices; developing materials to enhance data collection and analysis skills among UNFPA staff and partners; representing UNFPA in technical working groups; and collaborating with internal and external partners to strengthen data systems and promote knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in statistics, demography, public health, economics, data management, or related fields. They should have at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in data collection, analysis, and visualization specifically for family planning or reproductive health. In-depth knowledge of statistical packages and data visualization software, such as Power BI, is essential. Proven experience in reproductive health programming, results-based management principles, and monitoring and evaluation is also required. Experience in building dashboards and routine data collection systems at the country level is strongly preferred.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as statistics, demography, public health, economics, or data management. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of data analysis and visualization in the context of family planning and reproductive health.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in data collection, analysis, and visualization, particularly in the areas of family planning or reproductive health. This experience should demonstrate a progressive responsibility in managing data and contributing to programmatic outcomes. Familiarity with statistical packages and data visualization tools is crucial, as is experience in reproductive health programming and results-based management.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official UN languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse international environment.
