Job Overview:
The position of Procurement Process IC - Individual contractor involves conducting an analysis on the inclusion of women in ecosystem restoration efforts in Mali. The contractor will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and NGOs, to gather data and insights on how women's participation can be enhanced in these initiatives. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of gender dynamics within environmental projects and the ability to propose actionable strategies that promote women's involvement. The contractor will also be responsible for preparing reports and presentations that summarize findings and recommendations, ensuring that the analysis aligns with UNDP's mission of promoting gender equality and sustainable development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on the current state of women's inclusion in ecosystem restoration projects in Mali.
  • Engage with local communities, stakeholders, and experts to gather qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Identify barriers to women's participation in these projects and propose strategies to overcome them.
  • Prepare detailed reports that outline findings, recommendations, and best practices for enhancing women's roles in ecosystem restoration.
  • Collaborate with UNDP teams and partners to ensure alignment with broader development goals and initiatives.
  • Present findings to stakeholders and contribute to discussions on policy and program development related to gender and environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented strategies on women's inclusion in ecosystem restoration efforts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in gender analysis, particularly in the context of environmental or ecosystem restoration projects.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proficiency in report writing and presentation.
  • Familiarity with UNDP's policies and frameworks related to gender equality and sustainable development.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Gender Studies, Environmental Science, Development Studies, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in gender analysis or environmental management would be an asset.

Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant experience in gender analysis, environmental projects, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Mali. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be required for reporting and communication with international stakeholders. Knowledge of local languages would be an advantage.

Additional Notes:
This position is a contract role, and the duration will be specified in the contract agreement. The contractor will be expected to work full-time and may need to travel within Mali to engage with various stakeholders. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP's remuneration policies. The role is open to both national and international candidates, and applications from women are particularly encouraged.
