Job Overview: The Greenhouse Gases (GHG) Specialist position is a consultancy role aimed at providing expertise in managing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of current greenhouse gas emissions in targeted sectors.
Develop and implement methodologies for GHG inventory preparation and reporting.
Collaborate with national and local stakeholders to enhance their capacity in GHG management.
Provide technical support in the formulation of policies and strategies aimed at reducing GHG emissions.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations for stakeholders.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented GHG reduction strategies.
Stay updated on international best practices and emerging trends in GHG management and climate policy.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions for stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of GHG issues.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in environmental science, climate change, or a related field. They should have proven experience in GHG accounting and reporting, as well as familiarity with international climate agreements such as the Paris Agreement. Strong analytical skills, along with the ability to communicate complex information effectively to diverse audiences, are essential. The candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and possess excellent project management skills.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Sustainability, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in GHG accounting or climate policy would be advantageous. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of climate science and environmental management.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change mitigation, GHG emissions management, or environmental consulting. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs on climate-related projects is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully managing projects and delivering results within specified timelines is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the consultancy. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is specified as 60 working days.
