Job Overview:
The Registration Assistant position is a critical role within the registration team at UNHCR, responsible for supporting all activities related to the registration of asylum seekers and refugees. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Registration Assistant include conducting registration interviews in accordance with local SOPs and registration standards, responding to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR's registration procedures, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records related to individual registration cases. The incumbent will identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral to protection follow-up as required. Collaboration with protection staff and partners in the delivery of assistance and programming is essential, including the provision of identity and entitlement documentation. The Registration Assistant may also act as an interpreter and translator when needed, refer cases to other units within the office and to implementing partners, and support the identification and management of risks while seeking opportunities that impact objectives in their area of responsibility. Additionally, the incumbent will perform other related duties as required, contributing to the overall mission of UNHCR.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Registration Assistant position include a minimum of one year of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education. Candidates should possess strong professional experience in humanitarian or protection-related work, preferably with UN agencies. Direct experience using UNHCR’s proGres database is essential, including case creation, updates, data verification, biometric enrollment support, data quality control, and reporting. A solid understanding of registration standards, SOPs, data protection principles, and case processing procedures within UNHCR operations is also required. Furthermore, candidates should demonstrate strong coordination skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with persons of concern from diverse backgrounds while applying protection-sensitive approaches.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Registration Assistant position includes a High School Diploma as a minimum, with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education being preferred. Relevant fields of study may include Social Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics, or Information Technology. Candidates with certifications in these areas will be viewed favorably, particularly those marked as essential by UNHCR.

Experience:
