Job Overview:
The P&C Lead is responsible for leading a high-performing People & Culture (P&C) team within the Sudan West team. This role is pivotal in establishing effective systems and fostering a strong workplace culture that can adapt to complex and changing contexts. The P&C Lead collaborates closely with department leaders to oversee all people-related policies, programs, and systems, ensuring they align with the organization's goals and best practices. This position requires strategic leadership, advising senior management on succession planning, compliance practices, and organizational culture. The P&C Lead will also drive organizational performance by improving the efficiency of P&C operations and ensuring that key strategies and services are implemented effectively across various levels of the organization. This is a limited-term position with potential for extension, emphasizing the importance of building a skilled and motivated workforce to achieve program goals and serve clients effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The P&C Lead will serve as a strategic advisor to the Director and Senior Management Team, providing insights for succession planning and human resources strategies. They will supervise P&C staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with legal requirements. The role includes co-leading workforce planning, managing talent dialogues, and advocating for gender equality and safeguarding priorities. The P&C Lead will oversee the development and implementation of recruitment, compensation, employee relations, and performance management strategies. They will engage in proposal design, drive informed decision-making through data analysis, and ensure accurate payroll processes. Additionally, the P&C Lead will implement GEDI action plans, promote inclusive practices, and integrate safeguarding considerations into hiring processes. They will also support staff well-being initiatives and maintain effective communication within the team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree in HR management, International Relations, Development, MBA, Law, or a related field preferred. Approximately 8 years of progressive HR experience is required, with a proven track record in supporting large groups of employees in diverse environments. Experience in emergency response and humanitarian aid is preferred, along with strong management and leadership skills. Candidates should demonstrate integrity, empathy, and the ability to inspire others, as well as possess excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. Proficiency in people analytics and data management is essential, along with project management and organizational skills.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position, while a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as HR management, International Relations, Development, MBA, or Law is preferred. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively lead the P&C team and implement organizational strategies.

Experience:
Candidates should have approximately 8 years of progressive professional HR experience, with demonstrated success in a leadership role supporting large employee groups in various organizational contexts. Experience in emergency response, conflict zones, or the humanitarian aid sector is highly desirable. The ability to build strong relationships with senior management and effectively manage teams in matrixed environments is crucial for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is highly desired. The role may require a minimum of 40% travel to project field sites, emphasizing the need for effective communication skills in both languages to engage with diverse teams and stakeholders.
