Job Overview: The position of Jeune Volontaire en ligne Assistant-e au Programmes Jeunes et Adolescents is designed to support the implementation of the 9th Cooperation Program between Burundi and UNFPA for the period 2024-202
This program aims to enhance the quality of reproductive health services, strengthen national capacities, and improve data production and utilization for national planning. The volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Specialist in Adolescent and Youth Sexual Health and will coordinate with the UNFPA Resident Representative in Burundi to set priorities. The role involves engaging with youth, understanding their needs, and contributing to the development of tailored content that resonates with young audiences. The volunteer will also participate in training activities and capacity-building initiatives for youth and adolescents, ensuring that their voices and perspectives are included in program implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Jeune Volontaire en ligne Assistant-e include:
Supporting the design of youth-friendly content such as articles, fact sheets, and scripts.
Contributing to the analysis of the needs and priorities of young people.
Documenting youth initiatives and their outcomes.
Participating in training and capacity-building activities for youth and adolescents.
Assisting in the implementation of program activities, including organizing workshops, seminars, conferences, and meetings.
Preparing reports on activities/workshops and following up on recommendations.
Learning to document best practices in adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health.
Proposing innovations in the execution of activities related to adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health.
Creating digital awareness materials to engage and inform young people.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this position should possess strong communication skills, creativity, and a passion for youth engagement and sexual and reproductive health issues. They should be able to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate a commitment to the values and mission of UNFPA. Additionally, candidates should be adaptable, open to learning, and capable of working in a dynamic and multicultural setting.
Educational Background: A background in social sciences, public health, education, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of youth issues, sexual and reproductive health, and gender equality. Relevant coursework or training in these areas will be advantageous.
Experience: While prior experience is not mandatory, any volunteer work, internships, or projects related to youth engagement, health education, or community service will be considered a plus. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about learning and willing to take on new challenges in a supportive environment.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Burundi. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for certain documentation and communication with international stakeholders. Knowledge of local languages can be an asset.
