Job Overview:
The position of Asistencia Técnica Articulación AMPS en Alta Verapaz is aimed at providing technical, operational, and logistical assistance for the territorial articulation to strengthen actors in the implementation of the Women, Peace, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Agenda (AMPS) in Alta Verapaz. This role is crucial in supporting the UNDP's project aimed at enhancing women's participation in conditions of equality and security for peacebuilding. The consultant will be responsible for conducting a thorough analysis of the current situation regarding women's participation in peace processes, identifying key stakeholders, and facilitating workshops and training sessions to empower local actors. The consultant is expected to work closely with local communities, government entities, and civil society organizations to ensure effective implementation of the AMPS agenda. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to the dynamic context of the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current state of women's participation in peace and security initiatives in Alta Verapaz.
  • Identify and map key stakeholders, including local women's organizations, government agencies, and community leaders.
  • Develop and implement training programs and workshops aimed at enhancing the capacity of local actors to engage in peacebuilding efforts.
  • Facilitate dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders to promote the AMPS agenda.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation of activities, outcomes, and recommendations for future actions.
  • Provide logistical support for events and meetings related to the AMPS agenda.
  • Collaborate with UNDP and other partners to ensure alignment with broader development goals and strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions and adjust strategies as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in project management, particularly in the areas of gender equality, peacebuilding, and community development.
  • Strong understanding of the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda and its implementation at the local level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in project monitoring and evaluation methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset.

Experience:
At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of gender equality, peacebuilding, or community development. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP projects, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the socio-political context of Guatemala and previous work in Alta Verapaz will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in English is desirable and will be considered an asset. Knowledge of local indigenous languages is a plus.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as an Individual Contractor (IC) contract, and the duration of the contract will be specified upon selection. The role is expected to be full-time, with specific working hours to be agreed upon. The consultant will be required to work closely with the UNDP team and local stakeholders, and travel within the region may be necessary. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP's policies.
