Job Overview:
The Associate Director, Private Fundraising Communications is a strategic leadership role within the Marketing & Mobilization (M&M) team of the IRC's External Relations (ER) department. This position is focused on enhancing the IRC's fundraising capabilities through the development of compelling communications and marketing strategies aimed at private sector partners, including high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations. The role involves overseeing the creation of various fundraising materials such as proposals, reports, and pitch decks, ensuring that all content aligns with the IRC's brand and programmatic goals. The Associate Director will lead a team of communications professionals, fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration while driving the strategic direction of the Private Fundraising Communications team. This position is critical in supporting the IRC's mission to increase private revenue and enhance its global profile through effective storytelling and engagement with diverse audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Director will be responsible for several key areas:
  • Strategic Direction and Business Development: Develop and implement the strategy for the Private Fundraising Communications team, ensuring alignment with IRC's fundraising goals.
  • Fundraising Content Oversight: Oversee the creation of donor-centric content that effectively showcases the IRC's impact.
  • Creative Operations: Lead the writing cycle and production processes for fundraising materials, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Team Management: Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of four communications professionals, promoting professional development and a culture of excellence.
  • Performance Measurement: Establish reporting mechanisms to track the team's workload and outputs, analyzing data to inform strategic planning.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Build partnerships with fundraising leads and other IRC teams to ensure content reflects the organization's best practices and strategic direction.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess a strong background in editorial work, with 7-8 years of experience in a leadership role within a nonprofit, agency, or media environment. They should have a proven track record in crafting compelling proposals for high-net-worth donors and corporations, along with exceptional writing and editing skills. Strong project management abilities are essential, as is the capacity to mentor and develop a team. Candidates should also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field is required. A master's degree is preferred and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for this role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate will have 7-8 years of relevant experience, particularly in editorial roles that involve grant writing and philanthropic communications. Leadership experience is crucial, as the Associate Director will be responsible for managing a team and driving strategic initiatives.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with additional languages being a plus. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively across cultures and understand the nuances of language and expectations in a diverse global community of funders.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and based in the United States. The compensation range for this role is between $106,000 and $126,780.88, depending on various factors such as location, experience, and skills.
