Job Overview:
The position of Social and Behavior Change – Research and Data Analysis Consultant is crucial for advancing UNICEF's strategic projects related to social behavior change programming. The consultant will be responsible for conducting advanced analytics and monitoring of vaccination surveys, particularly focusing on the Behavioral and Social Drivers of Vaccination. This role involves providing technical guidance for integrating social and behavioral data into national statistical systems and supporting country offices in implementing monitoring tools for social and behavior change programming. The consultant will work closely with various teams within UNICEF to ensure the effective rollout of these initiatives and contribute to the overall improvement of child health and vaccination rates globally.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Conducting regression and segmentation analysis of Behavioral and Social Drivers of Vaccination Surveys, synthesizing findings from multiple countries, and preparing visualizations for research reports.
  • Developing and implementing regression and segmentation analysis models for global survey results, ensuring that the findings are actionable and relevant for UNICEF's objectives.
  • Drafting comprehensive research reports that detail the analysis and provide insights into the deployment and implementation of vaccination strategies across different countries.
  • Creating technical notes for the integration of social and behavioral data into national statistical systems, including revisions to existing platforms like DHIS2 and MICS.
  • Preparing training materials and conducting capacity-building sessions for country offices to enhance their understanding and use of social and behavioral data in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Planning and executing support sessions on advanced analytics for multiple countries, ensuring that the countries have a clear roadmap for implementing the recommendations from the surveys.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or its equivalent in fields such as social and behavioral sciences, public affairs, economics, statistics, or related subjects. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of experience in applied social science research, program monitoring and evaluation, or data visualization. Proven expertise in developing social and behavior change data analysis products and training materials is essential. Experience in leading analytical models under the Behavioral and Social Drivers of Vaccination Surveys and managing national survey designs is also required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong ability to draft research reports and data analysis decks for international organizations, showcasing their analytical skills and attention to detail.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social and behavioral sciences, public affairs, economics, statistics, or data monitoring and evaluation is required for this position. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of social behavior change and the analytical skills necessary for effective data analysis and reporting.

Experience:
The position requires at least 7 years of relevant experience in applied social science research, program monitoring and evaluation, or data visualization. Candidates should have a track record of developing social and behavior change data analysis products and training materials, particularly in the context of international organizations and public health emergencies. Experience in leading analytical models and managing national survey designs is also essential for this role.

Languages:
Oral and written proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Additional Notes:
The consultancy is set to run from 1 March 2026 to 30 June 2026, and it is primarily remote-based. Candidates must complete their profiles in UNICEF's e-Recruitment system and submit their academic credentials along with a financial proposal detailing costs per deliverable and total lump-sum for the assignment. UNICEF will cover any emergent travel costs and daily subsistence allowances if international travel is required. Selected candidates must ensure they have valid health insurance and are subject to background checks. The position is not considered a staff member role, and consultants are responsible for their tax liabilities. Additionally, candidates must confirm their fully-vaccinated status against COVID-19, although this requirement does not apply to those working remotely.
