Job Overview:
The position of Graphic Designer for the UN Annual Report involves close collaboration with the Chief of the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) and the Communication Officer. The primary function is to produce visually appealing and dynamic documents that effectively communicate clear and concise messages to the public. The selected contractor will be responsible for creating the final graphic versions of the annual report on the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), which includes producing a high-quality PDF document, designing layouts in InDesign/Adobe, and ensuring compliance with the DCO's graphic charter. Additionally, the contractor will create infographics and visual representations of data to enhance the report's accessibility and engagement, particularly for social media dissemination. The role also encompasses the graphic formatting of joint programs and the development of visibility tools for the Emai Fund, requiring creativity and a strong understanding of visual communication principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The contractor will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
  • Producing a well-formatted PDF document (maximum 25 pages) for the UNSDCF annual report, ensuring it is visually appealing and includes relevant photographs.
  • Designing and laying out the document using InDesign/Adobe, adhering to the 2021 graphic charter provided by the RCO.
  • Presenting statistics and trends through engaging infographics.
  • Providing an intermediate PDF document for review and a web version with hyperlinked table of contents.
  • Creating infographics and summary maps of key report points for social media distribution.
  • For six joint programs, the contractor will harmonize visual elements and integrate various visual components such as photos, illustrations, and diagrams.
  • Developing visibility tools for the Emai Fund, including updating visual identity and creating multimedia products. The contractor will ensure all deliverables are complete and optimized for public visibility, as all produced materials will be the exclusive property of the RCO.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). A minimum of five years of professional experience in creating infographics, social media visuals, or institutional publications is required. The candidate should have a proven track record in designing institutional annual reports, particularly for UN entities or Resident Coordinator Offices. The ability to simplify complex data into clear and attractive visuals is essential, along with the provision of evidence from the last two reports designed and references if applicable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a closely related discipline. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in design principles, visual communication, and proficiency in relevant software tools necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires over five years of relevant professional experience in graphic design, specifically in creating infographics and visual content for social media or institutional publications. Experience in designing annual reports for UN entities or similar organizations is highly valued, as is the ability to demonstrate a strong portfolio of previous work.

Languages:
The consultant must be proficient in reading and writing in either English or French. Knowledge of both languages is advantageous and will enhance communication and collaboration within the UN framework.
