The role is vital in monitoring and evaluating educational programs, suggesting solutions for implementation issues, and preparing reports for stakeholders. The specialist will also provide technical support to government counterparts and partners, build effective partnerships, and contribute to knowledge management and capacity building initiatives, particularly in the realm of digital learning.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the National UNV – Education Specialist include:
Supporting program development and planning by contributing to situation analyses and establishing program goals and strategies.
Managing and monitoring program implementation, including collecting and analyzing information on implementation issues and preparing reports for stakeholders.
Providing technical and operational support to government counterparts and partners on UNICEF policies and best practices.
Building and sustaining partnerships with government and national stakeholders to facilitate program implementation.
Contributing to knowledge management by capturing and sharing lessons learned and best practices.
Participating in capacity-building initiatives to enhance stakeholder competencies.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong understanding of education-related issues, particularly in the context of digital learning. Candidates should possess excellent analytical and research skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential. Familiarity with UNICEF's policies and procedures is advantageous, along with a commitment to promoting equity and children's rights.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a relevant degree in education, social sciences, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in education or development will be considered an asset. Continuous professional development in areas related to education and digital learning is encouraged.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in education program development, implementation, and monitoring. Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or international organizations in the education sector is highly desirable. Familiarity with digital learning initiatives and innovative educational practices will be beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Kiswahili is an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance program implementation. Additional languages may be considered an asset depending on the context of the programs.
Additional Notes: This position is a full-time role based in Dodoma, Tanzania. The National UNV – Education Specialist will be expected to engage actively with local communities and stakeholders.
