Job Overview: The Multimedia and Graphic Design Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting UNFPA Pacific's Communication and Visibility Plan by producing high-quality multimedia products. This includes creating videos, photo essays, infographics, and other designed documents that will be utilized for various purposes such as publications, donor reports, social media, and advocacy campaigns. The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Communications Specialist in Suva and will be responsible for ensuring that all multimedia outputs align with UNFPA's branding guidelines. The position requires a creative individual who can deliver innovative ideas and high-quality designs that effectively communicate UNFPA's mission and objectives, particularly in the context of international days of activism and other key events.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for delivering high-quality edited videos and creative ideas for various formats including print, electronic, and animated presentations. Key responsibilities include:
Designing and laying out reports and other communication products.
Improving and editing artwork, photos, charts, and other graphic elements.
Creating layouts and designs for information and communication materials such as publications, booklets, leaflets, factsheets, posters, banners, infographics, and social media graphics.
Ensuring that all multimedia products meet UNFPA's branding standards and are produced in a timely manner.
Collaborating with the Communications Specialist and other team members to develop effective communication strategies and materials that support UNFPA's goals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, fine arts, or a closely related field. Additionally, they should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in multimedia production, demonstrating a strong theoretical and practical background in multimedia techniques. Proficiency in editing and design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), as well as video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, is essential. Candidates should also have a clear and mature style of video editing and design, with an understanding of the communication requirements of a UN agency. Proven experience in multimedia production from inception to final product, along with knowledge of printing processes and color management, is required.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, fine arts, or a closely related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation in communication principles, design aesthetics, and multimedia production techniques that are essential for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in multimedia production. Candidates should have a strong portfolio showcasing their work in video editing, graphic design, and multimedia content creation. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly desirable, as it demonstrates an understanding of the specific communication needs and standards within the international development context.
Languages: Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Pacific languages is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication and engagement with local communities and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is an on-call consultancy position, meaning that the consultant will be contracted as needed to meet the growing demands for communication and visibility products. Compensation will be based on a set daily fee, with payment made at the end of each month based on the number of days worked. The consultant will be required to submit an end-of-month report detailing the work performed, along with a supervisor’s certification of satisfactory delivery.
