Job Overview: The UN VolunteerPartnerships Officer will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF Malawi's resource mobilization efforts, particularly in developing innovative financing mechanisms to address the core deprivations affecting children's well-being. This position involves managing donor reporting, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and collaborating with various program sections to produce high-quality reports. The officer will also support the implementation of donor recognition strategies and maintain effective donor reporting systems. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying sustainable funding opportunities and engaging with both public and private sector partners to maximize impact for children in Malawi. The officer will work closely with the Chief of Communication, Advocacy, and Partnerships, and will be responsible for ensuring that all donor-related communications are timely, accurate, and aligned with UNICEF's standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of donor reporting, ensuring timely preparation, review, and dissemination of reports for the Deputy Representative Programme's clearance.
Collaborate with program sections to produce mandatory UNICEF reports, including SitReps and Annual Reports.
Maintain effective donor reporting systems, including tracking and records management in SharePoint.
Support the Partnerships Specialist in managing donor-related field missions and ensuring donor visibility requirements are met.
Produce high-quality donor reports that reflect consolidated inputs from various sections and comply with donor standards.
Coordinate the clearance of reporting products and prepare comprehensive briefing materials for donor engagements.
Monitor media and share relevant information with the Communications team to support external communication efforts.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. A demonstrated understanding of UNICEF operations and donor reporting requirements is essential. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment, and a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values. Proficiency in using reporting systems and tools, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, are also required. The candidate should be adaptable and willing to learn new skills to stay current in the field.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, social sciences, or public administration is required. A master's degree in a related area is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in donor reporting, partnerships development, or resource mobilization, preferably within an international organization or NGO. Experience working with UNICEF or similar UN agencies is an advantage. Familiarity with innovative financing mechanisms and engagement with non-traditional donors is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both spoken and written. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Malawi is an asset and would enhance communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position may require travel within Malawi and the ability to work in potentially challenging environments. The role is full-time and may involve working under pressure with tight deadlines.
