Job Overview:
The Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) within UNHCR's Division of External Relations (DER) is tasked with mobilizing resources for refugees from the private sector. The role of the Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) Section is to develop and strengthen long-term partnerships with companies, foundations, and private philanthropists. The primary expectation from this position is to support the engagement of PPH donors and manage relationships with them, ensuring that partnerships are nurtured and leveraged for various forms of support beyond just funding. This includes advocacy, visibility, expertise, innovation, and public engagement. The incumbent will assist in preparing pitches, presentations, proposals, and reports, as well as managing existing partnerships and conducting market research to inform PPH initiatives. The role also involves logistical support for events and maintaining communication platforms to ensure effective information sharing within the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities for this position include:
  • Supporting the engagement of PPH donors and managing relationships with them based on the local market and philanthropic landscape.
  • Assisting in the preparation of fundraising materials such as pitches, presentations, proposals, and reports targeting PPH donors.
  • Helping manage existing partnerships by drafting donor reports, planning donor missions, and ensuring relationships are nurtured.
  • Conducting desk and market research to provide intelligence for PPH initiatives.
  • Supporting logistics for internal and external events, including skill-sharing sessions.
  • Collaborating with administrative colleagues on procurement, administrative, and travel matters.
  • Updating content on PSP’s SharePoint platform to enhance internal communications.
  • Assisting with information management and knowledge-sharing related to partnerships and philanthropy.
  • Maintaining up-to-date records of partnerships, tracking income raised, and supporting data entry and maintenance on Salesforce. 1
  • Supporting the delivery of communications and visibility plans with PPH donors, including organizing logistics for content-gathering missions and preparing communications materials. 1
  • Supporting logistics for high-level events tailored for major donors and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). 1
  • Assisting in implementing donor care plans to engage major donors. 1
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of foundation grants and organizing events for foundations and philanthropic networks. 1
  • Assisting in acquiring and strengthening partnerships with corporations and corporate foundations, including implementing donor cultivation and stewardship plans.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:
  • Completion of a High School Diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Business Management, or related fields.
  • For candidates with a High School Diploma, a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience is required, while candidates with a Bachelor’s degree need at least 2 years of experience.
  • Essential experience includes relevant professional exposure to international environments and/or humanitarian or development organizations.
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality written materials tailored to specific audiences and manage competing needs and deadlines.
  • Experience in coordinating multiple stakeholders and thriving in high-pressure environments is also essential. Desirable qualifications include knowledge of humanitarian programming, partnerships, fundraising, and familiarity with SharePoint 365 and CRM tools, ideally Salesforce.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed at least a High School Diploma or possess a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Communication, Marketing, or Business Management. This educational background is essential to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge necessary for effective communication and partnership management in a complex international environment.

Experience:
The level of experience required for this position varies based on educational qualifications. Candidates with a High School Diploma are expected to have a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience, while those with a Bachelor’s degree should have at least 2 years of experience. This experience should ideally be in roles that involve exposure to international environments, humanitarian or development organizations, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is essential for this position, while knowledge of Malay is also required. Additionally, proficiency in Chinese is considered desirable. This language requirement is crucial for effective communication with diverse stakeholders and partners in the region.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered under a UNOPS Local ICA contract until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension. It is important to note that the position requires fluency in both English and Malay languages. The remuneration for this position includes a competitive compensation and benefits package, with a monthly net salary ranging from MYR 8,762.42 to MYR 11,099.08, depending on relevant experience.
