Job Overview: The International UN Volunteer Specialist will play a crucial role in strengthening UNICEF's risk assurance and compliance activities in Ethiopia. The specialist will work under the direct supervision of the Risk and Compliance Manager and will be responsible for assisting in the annual risk assessment process, monitoring compliance with organizational rules and regulations, and supporting the implementation of fraud risk management strategies. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the International UN Volunteer Specialist include:
Risk Management: Assisting in the annual risk assessment process, monitoring the reliability of reports, and ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Supporting the monitoring of risk mitigation action plans and participating in peer reviews to embed risk management approaches in projects and proposals.
Compliance: Reviewing office systems and procedures for compliance with organizational rules, enforcing internal controls, and assisting in the preparation of the annual Statement of Internal Control (SIC). Ensuring that internal and external audits are conducted smoothly and that recommendations are implemented effectively.
Fraud Risk Management: Collecting evidence to respond to queries related to allegations of fraud and misconduct, implementing the global anti-fraud strategy, and suggesting internal fraud prevention mechanisms.
Awareness and Capacity Building: Implementing a continuous learning and development plan for the Risk and Compliance function, providing staff with access to relevant training, and ensuring understanding of key UNICEF policies.
Networking: Participating in a network of risk and compliance specialists for experience sharing and updates on office rules and policies.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong understanding of risk management and compliance frameworks, as well as experience in implementing internal controls and conducting audits.
