Job Overview:
The Communications Analyst position is based in the UNFPA Country Office in Uzbekistan and is under the direct supervision of the UNFPA Resident Representative. The primary role of the Communications Analyst is to support the advancement of UNFPA's mandate and Country Programme priorities through effective communication and advocacy strategies. This includes leading and coordinating communications for the EU-funded joint project, ensuring that all communications align with corporate and project requirements. The Analyst will analyze relevant political, social, and economic developments to inform communication strategies and will work closely with various stakeholders, including UNFPA programme teams, partner UN agencies, donors, and regional offices. The position requires a proactive approach to enhancing UNFPA's visibility and messaging, ensuring that the organization's work is effectively communicated to the public and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Analyst will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: monitoring and analyzing the political, social, and economic environment relevant to UNFPA's work; identifying opportunities for strategic communications interventions; guiding internal and external communications to engage staff and the public; developing and maintaining relationships with media and civil society organizations; drafting and editing communication materials such as articles, press releases, and social media content; coordinating the UNFPA website and social media platforms; supporting high-level delegations and visits; overseeing the development of advocacy and communication materials; leading awareness campaigns on gender equality and reproductive health; building the capacity of national partners in effective communication; advising on donor relations and resource mobilization; and ensuring compliance with branding guidelines during public events.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field. Prior experience in communication and advocacy on social issues is strongly desired, with a minimum of two years of relevant experience preferred. Familiarity with UN procedures and donor-funded projects, as well as experience in developing advocacy materials and managing social media accounts, is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, creativity in communication strategies, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a social/development science field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of communication in a development context and equips candidates with the skills needed to effectively engage with various audiences.

Experience:
The position requires more than two years of experience in communication and advocacy, particularly in relation to social issues. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with governments, civil society organizations, and donors. Experience in managing communication strategies for development projects and familiarity with UN procedures will be considered an advantage. The ability to analyze political and social contexts and to develop effective communication materials is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English, Uzbek, and Russian is required for this position. Proficiency in these languages is crucial for effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, government officials, and international partners. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a broader audience.
