Job Overview:
The Curatorial Consultant for Museum Concept Development will play a pivotal role in the development and production of content for the Museum of the History of Uranium Mining in Tajikistan, located in Buston. This position is crucial for ensuring that the museum effectively communicates the historical and cultural significance of uranium mining in the region while addressing the health and environmental issues associated with it. The consultant will be responsible for leading the curatorial development process, which includes creating a coherent narrative for the museum, overseeing content production, and ensuring that all materials are ready for public display. The consultant will work closely with the Museum Designer and other stakeholders to align the content with the approved concept and to enhance the operational readiness of the local museum team. The assignment is expected to last for 70 days, with specific phases focusing on storyline development, content creation, and post-opening support.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake a series of tasks divided into four phases. In Phase 1, the consultant will participate in initial meetings to establish content review processes, develop the museum narrative, and create a content production plan. Phase 2 will involve drafting exhibition texts, coordinating translations, and developing scripts for educational installations. In Phase 3, the consultant will finalize all texts, deliver a digital archive, and support the integration of content with design elements. Finally, in Phase 4, the consultant will compile a final report documenting the project outcomes and ensure a smooth handover of all materials to the OSCE POiD and the Mining-Metallurgical Institute of Tajikistan. Throughout the assignment, the consultant will be responsible for quality assurance and will provide training to the local museum team on interpretation and future content updates.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in museology, cultural management, history, art, visual culture, or a related field. A minimum of three years of professional experience in cultural development and exhibition content production is required. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of exhibition development, including the creation of storylines and interpretive texts, as well as experience in archival research and content rights management. The ability to organize content using clear metadata and structured file systems is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and possess professional fluency in Tajik and Russian, with working knowledge of English being an asset.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as museology, cultural management, history, art, or visual culture is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of museum curation and content development, particularly in relation to the historical context of uranium mining in Tajikistan.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of professional experience in cultural development and the production of exhibition content. This experience should include working with diverse audiences and developing educational and interactive components for exhibitions. Familiarity with archival research and managing content rights and permissions is also essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with international and national experts.

Languages:
Professional fluency in Tajik and Russian is mandatory for this position, as the consultant will be required to draft and translate exhibition texts in these languages. A working knowledge of English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and enhance the consultant's ability to engage with diverse audiences.
