Job Overview: The Head of Sales for South Africa will be responsible for executing a strategy that focuses on generating profitable and sustainable growth for the business. This role involves devising and managing strategies and techniques to achieve consistent and profitable growth in sales revenues and targets. The incumbent will oversee the effective planning, deployment, and management of Third-Party Commercial Operations and the Viya Health Sales Organization. A key aspect of this position is to keep the sales team motivated to achieve sales targets, thereby aligning with the strategic objectives of the organization. The Head of Sales will also be responsible for continuously generating new opportunities for the organization, ensuring that the sales culture is robust and that the team is well-coached and developed.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Head of Sales will lead and provide guidance to a high-quality sales team, promoting synergy and best practice sharing among resources. This role will drive active cross-functional collaboration to ensure the success of all marketing and commercial projects, as well as launch excellence. The incumbent will manage high standards of communication and deliver best-in-class services. Responsibilities include providing guidance on training requirements related to commercial processes, managing business reviews, overseeing market intelligence and competitor insights, and ensuring alignment with regional and global processes while adhering to Viya Health's ethics and compliance principles. The Head of Sales will manage the sales team budgets and expenses, develop and manage overall sales objectives for South Africa, ensure accurate sales forecasts, analyze revenue growth, and monitor profit margins and targets. Networking with potential customers and business partners to promote products, establishing effective relationships with other departments, creating a sales culture through development and coaching, and ensuring the professional launching of new products are also key responsibilities. Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Commerce, Marketing, or an equivalent education (NQF Level 7). An MBA or equivalent is also required (NQF Level 8). The position requires a minimum of 10+ years of experience in a sales management position, particularly in an independent channels environment within FMCG or pharmaceuticals, with demonstrable line management experience. Proven experience within the pharmaceutical industry, both in the private and public sectors, is a significant advantage. Financial acumen is essential, with a proven ability to plan and manage budgets effectively. Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills are also required.
