Job Overview:
In this full-time max term position, you will be part of the Domestic Family Violence team in Roma, working from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension. Your role will focus on providing holistic case management and support to vulnerable and disadvantaged clients, ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard. You will be responsible for identifying strengths, establishing goals for the program, and reviewing client progress towards these goals. The position requires a strong understanding of the impact of trauma on children and their families, particularly in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You will work collaboratively within a small team to deliver best practices to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, promoting skills that enhance health, safety, and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your primary duties will include:
  • Ensuring the voices of children and young people are heard in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Providing holistic case management to vulnerable and disadvantaged clients, ensuring they receive the support they need.
  • Identifying client strengths and establishing achievable goals for the program, regularly reviewing progress towards these goals.
  • Promoting skills that enhance health, safety, and development for clients.
  • Enhancing stakeholder relationships and partnerships to provide comprehensive support to clients.
  • Working collaboratively with team members to deliver best practices in service provision to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence.
  • Documenting case notes and maintaining accurate records of client interactions and progress.
  • Participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:
  • Experience working with children and young people within a child-centred framework.
  • Knowledge and previous experience in the Domestic and Family Violence sector or closely related human services context.
  • A solid understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children and young people.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families.
  • Strong report writing, analytical, and evaluation skills, including experience with data collection and analysis.
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field or significant experience working in a similar service.
  • A current driver’s licence is required for this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as social work, psychology, or a related discipline. Alternatively, significant experience working in a similar service may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications. Continuous professional development and training in child protection and domestic violence are highly regarded.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have substantial experience working with children and young people, particularly in contexts related to domestic and family violence. Experience in case management and a strong understanding of trauma-informed practices are essential. Familiarity with the challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families is also crucial.

Languages:
While the primary language for this position is English, knowledge of additional languages relevant to the local community may be beneficial but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time position with a maximum term until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension. The role is classified at Level 4.1, with a current hourly rate of $44.58, plus full salary packaging benefits.
