Job Overview:

The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the ExCITD Initiative, which aims to tackle complex infectious and tropical diseases in the Asia-Pacific region. This initiative, launched in 2026, focuses on malaria elimination, tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis, and innovative approaches to dengue suppression. The intern will be involved in various start-up activities, including operational coordination, stakeholder engagement, and evidence generation, which are essential for the successful implementation of the initiative. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in regional health cooperation and technical assistance processing, contributing to significant public health outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties that include providing administrative, operational, and knowledge support to the Lead for the ExCITD Initiative. Key responsibilities will involve assisting in project preparation and technical assistance activities in developing member countries (DMCs), which includes drafting terms of reference (TOR) for consultancies. The intern will also help organize consultative workshops, meetings, and stakeholder engagements, as well as synthesize evidence and generate knowledge products related to infectious diseases and immunization. Additionally, the intern will contribute to the planning and execution of advocacy events and regional knowledge-sharing activities, ensuring that the ExCITD Initiative is effectively communicated and supported across various platforms.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a master's degree or PhD program in Public Health, Health Economics or Financing, Epidemiology, or a related field. Strong analytical training and familiarity with the health sector are essential. The ideal candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, enabling them to draft policy briefs, reports, and stakeholder correspondence effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required, and experience with data visualization tools is considered a plus.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a master's degree or PhD program in relevant fields such as Public Health, Health Economics, Epidemiology, or related disciplines. This academic foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of public health issues and contributing effectively to the ExCITD Initiative.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have preferably 2-3 years of professional experience in public health, particularly with a public health NGO, think tank, or an international institution such as the United Nations or other bilateral or multilateral organizations. Experience in healthcare management consulting is also valued, as it provides relevant insights into public health strategies and operations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as the intern will be required to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required for this position.
