Job Overview:
The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer position at WFP is crucial for supporting the Logistics Unit in the Pemba Area Office. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Logistics Officer and will be responsible for overseeing logistics operations at the Nacala Hub. This role involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting information to enhance the efficiency of logistics operations. The Logistics Officer will contribute to the development of logistics plans and processes, ensuring compliance with WFP standards and policies. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including customs agents and port authorities, to ensure timely and cost-effective logistics operations. The officer will also support the capacity building of WFP staff and partners, ensuring effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries. This role is integral to WFP's mission of providing humanitarian assistance and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:

• Developing logistics plans and processes in compliance with WFP policies.
• Supporting logistics projects and day-to-day operations to ensure effective food assistance delivery.
• Collecting and analyzing data to recommend improvements in local logistics operations.
• Coordinating with the Country Office Logistics team and liaising with customs and port authorities for efficient operations.
• Planning and implementing cost-effective storage and delivery of relief items.
• Ensuring compliance of stock movements with WFP corporate systems.
• Conducting analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis and budget reviews to optimize fund usage.
• Guiding support staff and assisting with queries.
• Preparing accurate and timely reports on logistics activities. 1

• Following emergency logistics preparedness practices for quick response to crises. 1

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with an additional two years of relevant work experience and/or training is acceptable. The position requires a minimum of two years of professional work experience in logistics or supply chain management, demonstrating a solid understanding of logistics operations and processes. Candidates should also have experience coordinating service providers, arranging supplier deliveries, and evaluating offers. Familiarity with SAP or other integrated web-based systems is advantageous, as is experience in report writing and contract execution.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business Management. Candidates with a first university degree may also qualify if they have additional years of related work experience. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics and supply chain management within the humanitarian context.

Experience:
The Logistics Officer role requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional work experience. This experience should include coordinating logistics operations, managing supplier relationships, and executing contracts. Familiarity with emergency logistics operations is also beneficial, as the role may involve responding to crises and ensuring timely delivery of assistance.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in these languages to effectively communicate with stakeholders and prepare reports.
