Job Overview:
The Project Officer (Integration and Independent Living) will play a crucial role in the implementation of the 'Helios+: Comprehensive actions for the integration of third-country nationals into the labour market' project in the North Aegean region of Greece. This position involves working closely with national and local authorities, as well as experienced partners, to facilitate the integration of beneficiaries of international protection and temporary protection into Greek society. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing employability support, organizing Greek language courses, offering vocational training, and assisting with independent living initiatives, including rental subsidies. The role requires a proactive approach to promoting social cohesion and inclusion among diverse groups, ensuring that beneficiaries receive the necessary support to thrive in their new environment. The Project Officer will also be tasked with monitoring the progress of beneficiaries and conducting individual sessions to assess their integration journey.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Officer include:
  • Providing information to eligible beneficiaries and facilitating their enrollment in the project.
  • Monitoring the integration progress of beneficiaries through individual sessions and support.
  • Conducting presentations to familiarize beneficiaries with the European Way of Life.
  • Organizing psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support sessions to address the emotional and psychological needs of beneficiaries.
  • Informing beneficiaries about their social welfare rights, housing options, access to healthcare, and educational services.
  • Referring beneficiaries to other actors for specialized support when necessary.
  • Coordinating with other project units, relevant authorities, and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for beneficiaries.
  • Evaluating requests for exemptions from mandatory Greek language courses.
  • Ensuring accurate data entry and maintaining quality physical archiving of Means of Verification. 1
  • Coordinating with Reception Facilities to present the project and enroll eligible beneficiaries. 1
  • Assisting beneficiaries in their search for housing and navigating administrative requirements. 1
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Regional Coordinator or Project Team Lead.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is required, with a preference for candidates who have a Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields. Additionally, a professional license is required for Social Workers and Psychologists. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the challenges faced by third-country nationals and possess the skills necessary to support their integration into society. A valid driver’s license with at least five years of driving experience is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited institution. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. A Master’s degree in these fields will be viewed favorably and may enhance a candidate's application.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of previous work experience in a relevant field. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment is preferred, as it equips candidates with the necessary skills to engage effectively with diverse populations. For Social Workers and Psychologists, holding a professional license is mandatory, ensuring that candidates meet the professional standards required for practice in their respective fields.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Greek, both oral and written, is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly French and Spanish, is considered advantageous, as IOM operates in multiple languages and values linguistic diversity. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the necessary communication standards.
