Job Overview: The Durable Solutions Technical Officer is tasked with the day-to-day implementation of the Climate-Sensitive Durable Solutions pilot project. Duties and Responsibilities: The Durable Solutions Technical Officer will oversee the field-level implementation of pilot project activities. Key responsibilities include ensuring that NRC's durable solutions programs are executed in accordance with established Protection mainstreaming guidelines, reporting any breaches or concerns to the line manager. The officer will adhere to NRC policies and procedures, supporting the organization's commitment to integrated, climate-sensitive, and community-led programming. Specific duties include implementing project activities aligned with the approved log frame, workplan, MEAL plans, and budget, coordinating closely with Core Competency teams to ensure integrated implementation, participating in relevant coordination forums, supporting climate risk assessments, documenting pilot evidence and lessons learned, facilitating inclusive community consultations, and ensuring functional community feedback mechanisms that inform adaptive programming. The officer will also support the development and validation of Community Action Plans that reflect climate risks and community priorities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, or a related field. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the field is required, with a strong emphasis on facilitating community consultations and participatory planning processes. Familiarity with climate adaptation and environmental risk considerations in programming is essential, along with experience in implementing durable solutions and recovery programming. Knowledge of the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus programming in the context of the Somali region is highly desirable.
