Job Posting Organization: The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the lead UN agency focused on delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. Established in 1969, UNFPA operates in over 150 countries and territories, working to ensure that every individual has access to sexual and reproductive health services and education. The organization is committed to the principles of human rights and gender equality, striving to empower individuals and communities through education and advocacy. UNFPA's strategic plan for 2026-2029 emphasizes four interconnected outcomes: meeting the unmet need for family planning, ending preventable maternal deaths, eliminating gender-based violence, and adapting to demographic changes through evidence-based policies. UNFPA's mission is grounded in the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action, which calls for a transformative approach to population and development issues, particularly in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Job Overview: The Family Life Education Programme Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation and monitoring of the Family Life Education (FLE) program in the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), funded by UNFPA’s Transformative Agenda program. This position requires a strong focus on both in-school and out-of-school education initiatives aimed at enhancing young people's understanding of sexual and reproductive health (SRH). Coordinate the review, adaptation, and development of FLE curricula, teacher guidelines, and training packages for grades 6-8, ensuring that the materials are relevant and effective.
Monitor the delivery of Family Life Education for grades 4 and 5 in schools across RMI, ensuring that the program is implemented as planned.
Support advocacy efforts to promote the acceptability and implementation of FLE, particularly focusing on sensitizing parents and communities about the importance of FLE.
Develop and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual programmatic plans and progress reports, documenting good practices and lessons learned throughout the implementation process.
Identify appropriate channels for advocacy at national and community levels, developing advocacy briefs, statements, and reports on the achievements of the FLE program.
Organize and lead FLE-related events, including training sessions, workshops, and meetings in Majuro, Ebeye, and neighboring islands.
Collaborate with the Ministry of Culture and Internal Affairs, relevant youth-led civil society organizations, and UNFPA country and sub-regional offices to adapt and implement the out-of-school FLE curriculum.
Strengthen linkages between FLE and adolescent and youth-friendly health services (AYFHS) to ensure comprehensive support for young people. 1
Support the development and operationalization of digital/hybrid solutions for FLE to enhance accessibility and engagement. 1
Liaise with designated counterparts within government departments, key implementing partners, donors, and development partners to build partnerships for advocacy and resource mobilization for youth-centric programs. 1
Perform any other tasks assigned by the PSS supervisor and UNFPA Programme Analyst as needed.
