Job Overview: The Cash for Work Associate Administration Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Cash for Work Project Officers by overseeing various administrative functions related to the Cash for Work program. This position involves assisting in budget preparation, tracking expenditures, and preparing detailed financial reports. The officer will maintain regular communication with project officers to provide guidance on financial matters and ensure compliance with UNRWA regulations and donor requirements. The role also includes coordinating with other support service units on administrative and operational tasks, managing beneficiary attendance records, processing payment requests, and handling various administrative documents. The Cash for Work Associate will supervise junior staff members and carry out additional tasks as assigned by the project officers and project manager. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of the Cash for Work program and contributing to the overall mission of UNRWA.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Cash for Work Associate Administration Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting Cash for Work Project Officers in budget preparation and tracking expenditures; preparing detailed periodic financial reports; maintaining regular consultations with project officers regarding financial and budgetary matters; ensuring compliance with UNRWA rules and regulations; coordinating with support service units on project-related administrative tasks; reviewing beneficiaries' attendance sheets and updating the master database; processing payment requests; handling administrative documents such as supplier requisitions and purchase orders; maintaining inventory records for equipment and supplies; managing and updating office databases; supervising junior staff members; and carrying out additional tasks as prioritized by project officers and the project manager.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field. Additionally, applicants should have at least two years of relevant administrative experience, preferably with a UN agency or NGO. It is essential for candidates to disclose any close relatives working in UNRWA and to provide their registration card number if they are Palestine refugees. Furthermore, candidates must declare any affiliations with NGOs, academic institutions, or political organizations that could impact their neutrality and objectivity in performing their duties for UNRWA.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the administrative and financial aspects of the role, as well as the ability to navigate the complexities of working within a UN agency.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant administrative experience. This experience should ideally be gained in a similar role within a UN agency or a non-governmental organization (NGO). The experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to manage administrative tasks effectively and contribute to the successful implementation of projects.
Languages: For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. According to the UN Language Framework, candidates should have at least Level II proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English, and Level I proficiency in Arabic. Knowledge of French is considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The position is offered as a Limited Duration Contract (LDC) for a duration of six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The monthly salary for this position is USD 1,633.20, which includes a basic salary of USD 1,466.20 and a special allowance of USD 16
