This program aims to contribute to the government's efforts to reduce poverty and improve living conditions equitably. Given the extensive geographical coverage and the volume of activities planned, the role of the Chauffeur is essential for ensuring close monitoring and supervision of program activities. The Chauffeur will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of vehicles, ensuring that all transportation needs for staff, partners, and consultants are met. This includes maintaining the vehicle in good condition, managing official travel, and providing logistical support as needed. The Chauffeur will work closely with the Operations Director and the Procurement Assistant to ensure that all transportation and administrative tasks are executed smoothly and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Vehicle Management: Daily maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including checking oil and water levels, battery, brakes, tires, and cleanliness. Ensure compliance with vehicle management SOPs for maintenance and repairs. Document all trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities. Take immediate action in accordance with UNFPA procedures in case of accidents or incidents involving the vehicle. Ensure all necessary administrative documents and equipment for the vehicle are up to date.
Safe and Reliable Transportation: Greet official staff and visitors at the airport and assist with visa and customs formalities as needed. Conduct errands for the office, including collecting and distributing mail and documents. Drive field missions according to the defined itinerary.
Administrative and Logistical Support: Substitute or assist the Senior Driver when necessary, especially during complex high-level missions. Provide support in finalizing administrative documents, such as photocopying and binding, and assist with customs clearance requests and exemptions. Perform any other tasks assigned within the scope of competencies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid and updated driver's license and have completed at least secondary education. They should be Ivorian nationals with a minimum of three years of driving experience without accidents. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, as well as protocol rules, is essential. Familiarity with the driving regulations of the United Nations and international organizations is preferred. Basic mechanical knowledge is an asset, and proficiency in using computer tools is also beneficial. Fluency in both oral and written French is mandatory, as the working language of the organization is French.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is at least a secondary school diploma. Candidates must also hold a valid driver's license that is current and recognized in Côte d'Ivoire.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of professional driving experience, with a clean driving record and no accidents. Candidates should have a solid understanding of driving regulations and protocols, particularly those relevant to the United Nations and international organizations. Experience in a similar role within a UN agency or international organization would be advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: The consultancy period will last for six months from the date of signing the contract. The consultant will be based in Abidjan, with potential travel as required by UNFPA. Payments for consultancy fees will be made monthly, and daily subsistence allowance (DSA) for missions will be covered according to UN rates.
