Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Communication Associate - Digital Media & Engagement plays a crucial role in the Advocacy and Communication section of UNICEF Pakistan. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about children's rights and have a strong interest in digital media and communication strategies. The associate will be responsible for creating engaging and interactive content that resonates with diverse audiences, thereby amplifying UNICEF's mission and initiatives. This role requires a proactive approach to managing digital platforms, producing multimedia content, and engaging with the community to foster a deeper understanding of UNICEF's work. The associate will work under the guidance of the Digital Communication Specialist, contributing to the overall digital strategy and ensuring that UNICEF's messages are effectively communicated across various channels.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UN Volunteer Communication Associate include:
  • Content Production: Assist in managing the content calendar for social media platforms, schedule campaigns aligned with international days and current events, create engaging social media content, write compelling copy for various platforms, produce multimedia content including graphic design and video editing, and promote content online.
  • Community Engagement: Coordinate and manage communications on UNICEF Pakistan's digital channels, monitor and respond to audience interactions, employ community management best practices, monitor analytics, and support the growth of social media channels.
  • Research, Reporting, and Knowledge Management: Organize digital assets, research relevant articles and resources, support the planning of social media editorial calendars, evaluate social media performance, and update key messages.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring that all activities align with UNICEF's mission and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner. Proficiency in digital media tools and platforms is essential, along with a creative mindset for content creation. Familiarity with social media analytics and community management practices is highly desirable. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks effectively is crucial for success in this role. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to children's rights and a passion for advocacy and communication.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, media studies, social sciences, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with relevant coursework or certifications in digital media, marketing, or public relations will be given preference. A strong academic background will support the candidate's ability to understand and engage with the complex issues surrounding children's rights and advocacy.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in digital media, communications, or a related field. Experience working with non-profit organizations, particularly in advocacy or children's rights, is highly valued. Familiarity with content creation, social media management, and community engagement strategies will enhance the candidate's suitability for this role. Previous volunteer experience or internships in similar capacities will also be considered beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within UNICEF and for external engagement. Proficiency in Urdu or other local languages is considered an asset, as it will enhance the associate's ability to connect with diverse communities and audiences in Pakistan. Knowledge of additional languages may also be beneficial in certain contexts.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UNV assignment, and the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of PKR 105,097 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities, and living expenses. The position includes life health and permanent disability insurance, health insurance for up to three dependents, and a final repatriation allowance if applicable. The role is full-time, and the UN Volunteer will be expected to engage actively with the community and stakeholders to promote UNICEF's mission.
