Job Overview: The Legal Advisor position at the OSCE/ODIHR involves providing comprehensive legal advice to the Director and Deputy Directors on various legal matters related to the organization's operations. Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will perform a variety of duties, including:
Providing legal advice and analysis on the interpretation of ODIHR's mandate and its operational framework.
Advising on international law issues affecting ODIHR's legal status and privileges.
Conducting research and studying legal precedents relevant to ODIHR's functions.
Offering legal guidance on disciplinary procedures and personnel matters in accordance with OSCE regulations.
Reviewing and drafting legal documents, including agreements and memoranda.
Coordinating legal consultations and liaising with the OSCE Secretariat Legal Services.
Engaging in discussions on legal matters with local institutions and international organizations.
Performing other related duties as assigned by the Director.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in law and have a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience. Experience in legal practice, such as working as a judge, prosecutor, or lawyer, is desirable. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of international law, experience in drafting and reviewing legislation, and the ability to analyze policy implications. Discretion and sound judgment are essential for resolving sensitive issues. Proficiency in Microsoft applications is required, along with excellent written and spoken communication skills in English. Knowledge of another OSCE language is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate gender awareness and the ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
