Job Overview: The Head of Marketing Africa will be responsible for providing strategic direction for all marketing activities across the region. This role involves developing and implementing marketing strategies to drive brand awareness, customer engagement, and revenue growth. The position requires creativity, innovation, and the ability to develop and execute effective marketing campaigns and programs. The Head of Marketing will evaluate the timely adjustment of marketing strategies and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions. Collaboration with other departments, such as sales and Regulatory Affairs & Quality Assurance, is essential to ensure that marketing strategies support overall business objectives. This role is tasked with evaluating customer and consumer needs, gaining deeper insights while keeping an eye on evolving market dynamics, and using these insights to derive executable strategies that will drive the business to meet its objectives while providing direction to teams in execution.
Duties and Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of the Head of Marketing include developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy and plan to achieve organizational business goals and enhance brand presence across the entire region. The role involves collaborating with the business team to uncover insights for developing marketing and branding strategies for existing and new products. The Head of Marketing will oversee and grow the marketing department by identifying revenue opportunities among established clients and securing new accounts. Establishing commercial priorities and ensuring appropriate business focus through effective planning and resource allocation across the region is crucial. The incumbent will ensure the implementation and monitoring of required marketing activities to meet the strategic quantitative and qualitative KPIs of the business and take corrective actions where required. Identifying opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share across the region is also a key responsibility. The Head of Marketing will be responsible for developing and managing overall marketing objectives across the region, working closely with commercial teams to deliver local revenue targets, managing the marketing/product team budgets, and ongoing monitoring of all expenses. Ensuring team cohesion and driving the delivery of efficient and high-quality deliverables to support the Sales organization across the region is essential. The role also involves leading and providing guidance to an efficient and high-quality team, promoting synergy and best practice sharing among resources, and driving active cross-functional collaboration to ensure the success of all marketing and commercial projects and launch excellence. Additionally, the Head of Marketing will be responsible for regional forecasting to achieve the agreed customer service level by providing accurate product demand forecasts and ensuring that all forecasting assumptions for the region are appropriately documented. Regular field visits, observations, and measurement of results, including campaign evaluation, key opinion leaders feedback, and field intelligence reports, will be part of the responsibilities. The incumbent will take the initiative to drive standardization of reporting across various portfolios and oversee marketing excellence across the region.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Head of Marketing position include a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, with an MBA or advanced degree being mandatory. The professional experience required is a minimum of 10+ years within a marketing environment, with strong exposure to market research and business analytics. Additionally, a minimum of 8+ years of experience in a Senior Marketing Management position with demonstrable line management experience is necessary to provide coaching to experienced product managers. A solid understanding of key performance metrics and tracking tools for market research, forecasts, competitor analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends is essential, along with the ability to translate results into actionable insights for the marketing team.
