Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Programme Management Specialist position involves supporting the development and maintenance of a system to track donor profiles and technical/financial reporting requirements. The incumbent will assist with project reporting, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and contribute to drafting project proposals in collaboration with technical units. The role requires participation in planning, monitoring, and reporting for the UNSDCF and WHO Biennium Programme Budget, as well as preparing written materials such as briefing notes, presentations, and reports. The position also involves coordinating with communication and resource mobilization focal points to disseminate WHO materials and assisting in preparing and coordinating internal and external missions related to programme management and partnerships. The incumbent may need to conduct travel to programme areas for fact-finding and reporting needs, and will perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and maintenance of a system to track donor profiles and technical/financial reporting requirements, including those linked to cross-programmatic work or emergencies.
  • Assist with project reporting through editing, quality assurance, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  • Contribute to drafting project proposals in collaboration with technical units.
  • Support planning, monitoring, and reporting for the UNSDCF, the WHO Biennium Programme Budget, and relevant working groups and task forces.
  • Prepare written materials—including briefing notes, presentations, meeting minutes, periodic reports, and situation reports—ensuring proper proofreading, editing, and layout.
  • Coordinate with Communication and Resource Mobilization focal points to disseminate WHO technical and communication materials in line with donor visibility and communication guidelines.
  • Assist in preparing and coordinating internal and external missions related to programme management and partnerships.
  • Conduct travel to programme areas for fact-finding and reporting needs.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a strong understanding of project management principles and practices, as well as familiarity with donor reporting requirements. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Technical competence in health-related fields and experience with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable. The candidate should also exhibit a commitment to the values of WHO and the UN, including respect for diversity and a focus on results.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in public health, international relations, project management, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset for the position. Additional training or certifications in project management or monitoring and evaluation would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in health or humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the UN system and its operations will be considered a strong asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UN Agencies. Proficiency in Bengali is an advantage, as it facilitates communication within the local context. Knowledge of additional languages may also be beneficial, depending on the specific requirements of the role.

This position is a volunteer role under the UN Volunteer program, which typically involves a contract duration of 12 months. The role is full-time and may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate meetings with international stakeholders. The position is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which is the capital city and offers a range of amenities for expatriates.
