Job Overview:
The Protection from Violence (PfV) Officer position is crucial for the day-to-day implementation of the Protection from Violence project portfolio in the North Area of South Sudan. The PfV Officer is tasked with contributing to the successful execution of PfV programs, which include service delivery, monitoring project activities, ensuring compliance with technical standards, and engaging with communities. The PfV portfolio encompasses Individual Response Services, Civilian-Self Protection, and Thought Leadership and Influence, delivered through both fixed sites and mobile modalities. The role requires significant travel, approximately 70% of the time, to provide mobile services in and around Bor and the North Area. The PfV Officer will work closely with the PfV Specialist and PfV Manager, providing technical support and capacity development, while also contributing valuable insights from project activities to inform strategic decisions regarding protection risk trends and the relevance of PfV programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The PfV Officer's duties include ensuring adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines, implementing the delegated Protection from Violence project portfolio according to the action plan, and preparing status reports as required by management. The officer must ensure proper documentation and filing of project-related documents, target beneficiaries effectively, and explore new methods of assistance. Specific responsibilities involve implementing civilian self-protection programming, delivering individual response services, conducting protection monitoring, and engaging in advocacy activities in line with Safe and Inclusive Programming principles. The officer is also responsible for maintaining confidentiality and upholding NRC’s Code of Conduct within the Protection from Violence Team. Collaboration with PfV Officers and Assistants is essential for direct service provision, and the officer will produce regular reports to support the PfV Coordinator and Specialist in meeting internal and donor reporting schedules. Additionally, the officer will assess and document ideas for technical improvements and oversee the achievement of activity targets in compliance with NRC and donor requirements, while fostering effective relationships with stakeholders, including partner agencies and community leaders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess experience working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian or recovery context, with a proven track record in complex and volatile environments. Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position are essential. A basic knowledge of English is required, along with 1-3 years of experience in Protection activities and programming. Candidates should be self-motivated, possess strong organizational and communication skills, and have experience in community engagement processes and participatory assessments. Understanding the rights and protection issues faced by displacement-affected populations is crucial, particularly in the North Areas.
