Job Overview:
The position involves volunteering for the Sustainable Energy Academy (SEA), a global digital learning platform created by UNDP to enhance national capacities and foster a community of energy experts. Volunteers will play a crucial role in the quality review of educational materials, ensuring that the content is accurate, engaging, and effectively supports the Academy's mission of linking energy with sustainable development. This role requires a commitment to validating, localizing, and improving key learning assets, with a focus on previous experience in the sustainable energy sector and content editing in English. Volunteers will be responsible for reviewing various educational resources, generating infographic summaries, and approving AI-generated video scripts and outputs, all aimed at enhancing the learning experience for users of the Academy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the quality review process for one specific module, which consists of approximately 50 pages of text, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and relevance of the content.
  • Provide support across an assigned block of three modules, collaborating closely with the module lead author.
  • Review and verify resources for each lesson, ensuring that the correct cover images are selected and accurately named in accordance with the current Table of Contents.
  • Generate concise descriptions for infographics embedded within the lessons and confirm the accuracy of source texts.
  • Approve scripts and video outputs for AI-generated videos that accompany each module and chapter, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Review interactive polls generated for each lesson, assessing their content and approach for approval.
  • Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to ensure a cohesive and effective learning experience for users of the Academy.

Required Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in the sustainable energy sector, demonstrating a strong understanding of energy systems and their impact on sustainable development.
  • Proven skills in content editing and quality assurance, particularly in English, with a keen eye for detail and clarity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment, communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms and educational content development is a plus.

Educational Background:
A background in environmental science, energy policy, sustainable development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of the principles of sustainable energy and its role in economic development. Relevant coursework or certifications in content editing or instructional design may also be beneficial.

Experience:
Volunteers should have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the sustainable energy field or related areas. Experience in content editing, educational resource development, or quality assurance processes is highly desirable. Familiarity with digital learning environments and tools will enhance the effectiveness of the volunteer's contributions.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all content and communications will be conducted in this language. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions served by UNDP, would be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and as such, it does not offer financial compensation. The role is designed to be flexible, allowing volunteers to contribute their time and expertise remotely. The duration of the volunteer commitment is not specified, but candidates should be prepared to engage actively in the review process until the Academy is finalized for public release. Volunteers will gain valuable experience working with a global organization and contribute to meaningful projects aimed at advancing sustainable energy access.
