Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer in Humanitarian Affairs will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's operations in Syrian refugee camps in Jordan. This position involves day-to-day operational coordination at the camp level, working closely with government authorities, implementing partners, and refugee committees. The successful candidate will facilitate program implementation, ensuring that UNICEF activities adhere to established standards and guidelines. Responsibilities include monitoring program effectiveness, data collection, and reporting, as well as identifying bottlenecks and communicating emerging needs to ensure uninterrupted access to services for refugees. The role requires frequent field missions to the Azraq and Zaatari Camps, where the volunteer will support implementation and monitoring activities, contributing to the overall effectiveness of UNICEF's humanitarian efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will assist with daily coordination with partners, refugee committees, and camp management. Key responsibilities include organizing field visits, meetings, and small events at the camp level, liaising with government officials to facilitate the entry of UNICEF contractors and visitors, and maintaining tracking sheets for related work. The volunteer will conduct routine checks on service access points, assist in monitoring compliance with standard operating procedures, and support accountability mechanisms by collecting feedback. Additional duties include compiling field data for assessments, drafting field notes and incident logs, assisting with logistics arrangements for field missions, and providing logistical support to emergency assessment teams. Regular field visits to the refugee camps are essential, as is maintaining readiness of emergency supplies and documentation tools at the camp level.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to changing situations. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government officials and community members. Familiarity with humanitarian principles and practices is essential, as is a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values. Educational Background:
A degree in social sciences, international relations, humanitarian affairs, or a related field is required. Experience:
The position requires prior experience in humanitarian assistance, project coordination, or a related field. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work in challenging environments, preferably in refugee or displacement contexts. Experience in data collection, monitoring, and reporting is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the operational context in Jordan.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, as it is the official language of Jordan. Proficiency in English is also essential, as it is widely spoken and used in official communications. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in engaging with diverse refugee populations.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Amman, Jordan. The volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of JOD 916.06, along with annual and learning leaves, free medical and life insurance, and access to various learning platforms. The living conditions in Amman are generally favorable, with a range of amenities and services available.
