Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Gender, Protection and Inclusion Officer include:
Contributing to the formulation of WFP-wide program policies that align with organizational strategy and field realities.
Translating program policy into regional and country-level practices and developing implementation modalities.
Providing technical advice and support to Country Offices (COs) on complex issues to ensure consistency with WFP policies and guidance.
Assisting government counterparts and partners in planning and implementing food assistance programs.
Establishing operational partnerships to enhance collaborative approaches and advocacy efforts.
Managing operational research and evidence building on food assistance issues.
Preparing and disseminating analytical reports and information products.
Ensuring effective financial resource management within a moderate budget. 1
Contributing to emergency preparedness efforts in the Country Office. 1
Performing other duties as required.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an advanced university degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field relevant to international development assistance. Alternatively, a first university degree with five years of related work experience and/or training is acceptable. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of food assistance programming and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively. Additionally, candidates should possess excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or Social Sciences. A first university degree combined with five years of relevant work experience is also acceptable. Continuous professional development through training and courses related to food assistance and humanitarian response is highly valued.
Experience: Candidates should have experience working across the program portfolio, including areas such as Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (VAM) and Nutrition. Experience in leading a sub-office or a small country/area office program team is preferred. Additionally, candidates should have engaged in policy discussions and contributed to policy decisions, demonstrating their ability to influence and guide programmatic strategies effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Spanish is required as it is the duty station's language. Candidates should possess strong communication skills in both languages to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and ensure the successful implementation of programs.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Panama City, Panama, and is open only to Panamanian citizens. It is a fixed-term contract for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension. The role is classified at the NO-C level, and candidates will undergo a probationary period of one year. Successful candidates will be placed in a roster for two years.
